I was born and bred in The West Country, went to university in The Midlands and now live on the outskirts of London.
I graduated from The Univesity of Warwick with a joint honours in maths and P.E., gaining my Qualified Teaching Status (QTS) in 1988.
My first Job was at Mid-Warwickshire College of Further Education, where I taught maths at GCSE and A-Level, and also taught the Maths content of the BTEC courses for Business Studies and for Engineering.
After marriage (and a six-month trip of the Far East, Australia and New Zealand - irrelevant, but extremely enjoyable), I moved to London where I have taught in both the State and Independent sectors.
Although my main specialism is in mathematics, I have also taught ICT and Computing up to A-Level. In fact, for twenty years, I was in charge of ICT and Computing at three different schools.
I have been a qualified teacher since 1988, but I also have professional qualifications in computing. These include being a Microsoft Certified System's Engineer (MCSE) and a Microsoft Office Master Istructor (MOS).
I love computer programming and during my thirty years of teaching, I have created lots of specialist programs that have helped many students improve their knowledge and skills. The main future direction of this website will be creating Web-friendly versions of these programs so that they are available for the benefit of thousands of students all over the world.
I have now retired from full-time teaching and instead do a little bit of tutoring and supply teaching at different schools in East London and Essex. This allows me to put my efforts into developing this website while broadening, even further, my experience of teaching maths in a wide variety of schools.
