I was born and bred in The West Country, went to university in The Midlands and now live on the outskirts of London.
I graduated from The Univesity of Warwick with a joint honours in maths and P.E., gaining my Qualified Teaching Status (QTS) in 1988.
My first Job was at Mid-Warwickshire College of Further Education, where I taught maths at GCSE and A-Level. I also taught the Maths content of the BTEC courses for Business Studies and Engineering.
After marriage I moved to London where I have taught in both the State and Independent sectors.
Although my main specialism is mathematics, I have also taught ICT and Computing up to A-Level. In fact, for twenty years, I was in charge of ICT and Computing at three different secondary schools.
As well as being a qualified teacher, I also have professional qualifications in computing and IT. These include being a Microsoft Certified System's Engineer (MCSE) and a Microsoft Office Master Istructor (MOS). I am also an experienced database programmer.
I love computer programming and during my thirty years of teaching, I have created many specialist programs that have been of significant help to students of all ages. The main future direction of this website will be creating Web-friendly versions of these programs so that they are available for the benefit of students world-wide.
I have now retired from full-time teaching and instead do tutoring and supply teaching at different schools in East London and Essex. This allows me to put my efforts into developing this website while continuing to broaden my experience of teaching maths in a wide variety of schools.
